Proctor takes the event win, Mauney rides Code Blue MEDIA CONTACT:

New York, NY (January 10, 2010) – The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) enjoyed three sold-out crowds and four 90-point rides at The World’s Most Famous arena, Madison Square Garden, at the New York City Invitational this weekend.

Shane Proctor (Grand Coulee, Wash.) had a huge weekend, taking home the event win and a check for $46,085.40. In Round 1, Proctor made the buzzer on Bones (Teague Bucking Bulls), scoring 91.25 points and round win. Riding Big Coyote (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Walsh Farms) in Round 2 for 86.75 points won Proctor $520 and helped push him that much closer to the event win. Proctor was awarded a solid 86.25 points on Walk the Line (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) in Round 3, then took the Built Ford Tough Championship Round win on RFD-TV (Teague Bucking Bulls, LLC) with 90.75 points.

“I started the week the right way when I drew Bones,” said Proctor. “And I had the pick of the litter in Round 3. The bulls were tough this weekend, but it all paid off.” Proctor’s New York City Invitational event win puts him at No. 4 in the overall 2010 Built Ford Tough Series standings, with 1,343.25 points and $48,205.70.

Two-time World Champion Chris Shivers walked away with the Round 3 win. He rode Walton & Wagoner Bucking Bulls’ Iron Broke for 87.5 points and $2,730. Greeley, Colo. native Josh Koschel came in a close second in the round with 86.75 points on Jeff Robinson/Leon Frakes’ bull Bird Creek and took home $1,950.

There was a four-way tie for fourth through sixth place in Round 3: Brazilian Valdiron de Oliveira (Aparecida de Goiania, GO) stayed on Live Wire (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) for 86.5 points and $682.50; Sean Willingham (Summerville, GA) rode Bad Blood (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Clay Struve) for 86.5 points and $682; Austin Meier (Kinta, Okla.) made the buzzer on The Juice, from Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls, for 86.5 points and $682; and Elliot Jacoby (Fredericksburg, Texas) scored 86.5 points and $682 on Buckshot from Walton & Wagoner Bucking Bulls.

Proctor wasn’t the only 90-point ride in the Built Ford Tough Championship round. Travis Briscoe (Edgewood, N.M.) rode RMEF Bugle (Jeff Robinson Bucking Bulls), and McKennon Wimberly (Cool, Texas) rode Smack Down (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/Struve/Rosen), both scoring 90 points and winning $1,560 in front of the roaring Madison Square Garden crowd. Wiley Peterson (Fort Hall, Idaho) came in fourth in the round after riding Yellow Jacket, Jr. (Dakota Rodeo/Chad Berger/clay Struve) for 85.25 points and $780.

Rounding out the top five was one of the most impressive rides of the weekend. J.B. Mauney (Mooresville, N.C), amazingly, stayed on 2009 World Champion Bull, Code Blue (Walton & Wagoner/Berger & Struve) for 76.25 points and $468. Mauney’s leg got caught up in the rope, and he was heading towards an ugly wreck, but managed to keep his body off of the ground just long enough to make the buzzer. It wasn’t the prettiest ride, but he became the first person to ever receive a score on the champion bull.
